Welcome Geno Thorpe

#1

Committed this morning to good old PSU.

#2

That would be phenomenal - LOI day can’t come soon enough for him. If Pitt, Wiscy, and KSU want him, so do I.

GREAT GREAT news! GREAT to get a WPIAL kid. I have only seen highlight tapes BUT I have Pgh friends who have said that he can really play! I will see him play this season for Shaler High!!

So this is a pretty big get, no?

#6

WOW!!! Great News!

#7

Wisconsin was ALL over his kid. Thorpe one time said Wisconsin’s assistant Lamont Thorpe had the best relationship with him, as in he was his favorite coach. I thought they were the front-runners. This is incredible.

#8

Great news!

#9

Great news indeed, welcome to PSU Geno!

#10

Welcome Geno. A new era is approaching for PSU hoops.

Awesome News!!!

I was worried that this crap with the university could hurt Chambers, but this is a good sign.

I wonder what Chambers is thinking about all this. He’ll definitely be working for a new AD and perhaps new President in the not too distant future. We all know Chambers came here because it’s closer to home and he has a family connection to the school. He didn’t come here because of Spanier and Curley.

This is a great job by Pat Chambers or whoever was the lead recruiter for Thorpe. Local Top 150 player.

#13

Some GOOD news to smile about! Thankfully Geno didn’t let the crap that is going on affect his opinion on Chambers and the program. Welcome to PSU Geno!!!

#14

The “map” worked!!

#15

I figured Pat would bring in some kids from Philly - but bringing in a top kid from Pittsburgh is huge. Well done.

#16

FYI, Geno and Shaler play @ Altoona on 1/13 and @ State High on 1/14. Then, Minney @ PSU on 1/15, sounds like a great hoops weekend to me!

Great job, Pat Chambers. Geno’s quotes are a good reminder that we there are still a lot of good things about PSU in terms of education, alumni base, young coaches, etc. I hope a new administration and football program is put in place to complement the fine group of young outside coaches we have hired in other sports.

Looks like his uncle is former PSU footballer Chris Thorpe.
