Trey Burke Leaving Michigan for NBA

#1

Saw this on FOS. Apparently Burke is declaring for the draft.

Not sure why that suddenly became such big news. Two weeks ago his father said that he was considering it and there basically hasn’t been any definitive news from any parties since.

I can’t figure out what triggered this flurry of news from some of the big players and how they missed the original article (it was even mentioned here by bballguy).

I guess his stock is pretty high right now but I think this is a downright stupid decision. Not that he cares what I think. But late first- early second rounder if he gets lucky.

Harris should have never left last year and still should have played his senior season. Michigan should be primed for a NC run next year. I could probably get used to having one and doners and early exits occasionally, but not ones that were borderline draft picks or not drafted at all(Harris). Just shows how little they were ever actually involved with being in college.

Good.

So, a year later, both Trey’s are no longer in the B10. Who would’ve guessed?

Wasn’t trying to claim it was big news. Just thought it was interesting.

Reality is, his stock will probably not climb, only drop.

That’s the way it is with the draft. The earlier you leave, the less holes they see in your game, they more upside they assume you have. Ask Sullinger

you know what they say, strike while the irons hot

I always this kids should stay another year when they’re thinking about leaving. Especially a PG. It’s up to Burke if he wants to leave, but I don’t think another year could hurt. Maybe his draft stock though

I wasn’t referring to you. I meant CBS et al suddenly picking it up when it was two week old info.

I think that is a good decision.

Me too. I wonder if Austin Rivers will reconsider. As they lost to Lehigh, not sure how high his stock will be.

Regardless of basketball talent, college is not for everybody. I don’t mind kids getting on with their lives. Still paychecks in Europe and NBA minor league.

Well, Grand Savant, I’m glad someone did bring it up, as this is the first I’ve heard of it. Interesting news, no doubt, and brings UM back to the pack a bit. Glad he didn’t come here after all…

Although if you read the rest of the thread you’ll see he is in fact coming back to UM.

He’ll probably be back next week wondering if anyone has heard about Trey Burke opting to come back to school.

I think it’s better for Burke to stay. Now we’ll need Frazier to shut him down next year 8)

It’s all about landing in the first round.

If he would have got some type of indication that a team wanted him in the first, I would say jump on it. As kidcoyote says, his stock will never be higher than it is now.

That fact that he withdrew probably means he will not be a 1st rounder.
