Here's the thread that I think you are referring to. In the face of extreme optimism that our recruiting fortunes would change because of Chambers, I argued that the best/only chance for recruiting success with top 50 kids would be if they were in the "Penn State T", and warned of trouble hoping for that given the historic lack of them. (The first one just showed up, five years later - Lonnie Walker. We're not a player.)
But regardless, PC proved me wrong on one thing: the ability to recruit well without having a lucky break that resulted in some serious winning. No small error in my predictive skills! Here's the bet with emphasis mine - where I was really wrong:
Brandon Austin's brief commitment offered some chance that this would happen. A Harrisburg grand jury came into play shortly thereafter.
But now ... we have absolutely turned a corner in recruiting. We're fortunate that this year's unbelievable PA talent - Walker, Bamba, Green, Cosby-Roundtree - finds us without any schollies, because with Duke, Kentucky and freshly minted national champ Villanova in hard, we would lose a lot of those battles, and suffer the perception of lost recruiting momentum.
We're set up now for these kids to turn the whole dang thing around. Eric posted over at BSD that Hampton is expected to be ready as of now. Can't wait for it to start.
