From the “Why is Daddy a little grumpy article?” article:
“When Penn State scores 65 points or more this season, the Nittany Lions are 7-2. When they score 64 points or fewer, the Nittany Lions are 4-13.”
That made me go look up Iowa’s numbers for something similar:
When they score 65 or more this season, they are 10-5. When they score 64 or less, they are 2-7.
First one to 65 wins?
But I dug a little deeper into the numbers -
Iowa’s break point actually appears to be 75: 75 or more they are 9-3; 74 or less, they are 3-9.
and our break point might be 62 not 65: 62 or more we are 9-4, 61 or less, we are 2-11.
And looking at it defensively, gives you even more clear cut break points.
Holding our opponents to under 60, we are 8-1; giving up more than 60 we are 3-14.
When Iowa holds their opponents under 75, they are 11-1; giving up 75 or more they are 1-11.
Anyone get a sense, these two programs will want to play at two different paces?
FTR: Iowa leads the conference in pace of play at 70.2 possessions per game.
