I’m one who wishes only the worst for Michigan football. Come bowl season, I root for every BIG TEN team save one…

Does this mean he’s going to take an NFL job instead? seems like the alma mater is the dream job (and if you can win there, a sweeter gig in some towns), but the NFL is the goal for a lot of guys I guess.

He’s rumored to be going to the 49ers. But with no less than possibly ten NFL head coaches being shown the door this season, maybe he should think about going to Michigan instead. Strike up the music and let the merry-go-round spin.

The NFL typically pays better. And he can always go back to college if he fails in the NFL.

Rich Rod to Pitt?? [/quote]

Of course not, the next Pitt Coach will have to be squeaky clean after their recent catastrophe.

Michigan denies the ESPN story.

Mitch Albom.

Again, Albom hits it out of the ballpark.

I said this when Rich Rod was hired. Look at Nebraska. They tried the same approach at attempting to change the way things had been done there for generations with the hire of Bill Callahan and his football philosophy. While Callahan was less sleazy in his approach, he nonetheless brought a more exciting offense to Lincoln at the expense of the defense. Sound familiar. The Black Shirts quickly became The Grey or even The Off-White Shirts. When things went south for the Huskers, they let Callahan go and brought back a guy in Bo Pelini who restored some of the tradition in the way they did things at Nebraska.

Michigan needs to start that process and go back to their roots to do what Nebraska has had success in doing. Wiping away those experimental years with a coach who understands what Michigan football is all about.

Personally, I hoped that Michigan would continue to suck for years and years. But then I thought, you know, it’s not as fun beating Michigan anymore.

We talk about how having an octogenarian at the helm of our football team is keeping it down. But then I see Michael Zordich’s son and Leo/Steve Wisniewski’s son/nephew and Matt Suhey’s son, etc, etc all contribute to the program in a big way, and feel happy that things are the way they are at PSU. Is it as good as it can be, absolutely not. But in the end, you still get the sense that Penn State does things the right way, and that has to be worth something in this day and age of college athletics.

Wonder if they would go the Sal Sunseri route. Former star at school and his kid is the present QB. Really hope Bradley doesn’t go to Pitt. I would hope Scrap gets a chance to be the head man somewhere but not Pitt.

Me too, I hope Scrap might end up @ UCONN?

He has been linked to several open positions over the years, but like many coaches, I don’t think there are many that can get him away from Happy valley.

From what I hear, he has a lot of ties to Pittsburgh. But, UConn, Maryland, Temple, etc. always have him rumored without much substance.
