[quote=“UncleLar, post:346, topic:2362”]The girls from Pure Cane Sugar performed this version of The Devil Makes Three’s “Old No. 7” for me Friday night at the Adam’s Apple. I “won” this guitar at the Rotelli golf tournament a couple of weeks ago (ok - truth be told, we came in tied for second, but I paid the winners $100 to let me have the guitar). Since I don’t play any musical instruments, this might be the only song that’s ever played on it.
I was in State College this weekend and stumbled upon Pure Cane Sugar at Zeno’s on Saturday night. Oh. My. Gosh. They were phenomenal, and it is doing them a disservice to describe them as only phenomenal. Didn’t know they were playing, didn’t know who they were, but they were so talented, top to bottom, and put on a great, great show. I don’t know any of them personally, but you should go see them when you’re in town and you should buy their stuff (two albums, by my count, on iTunes). Their selections spanned at least forty years (“Old Man” by Neil Young to “Woman King” by Iron and Wine), but their interpretations made it all sound great. First rate musicianship, including terrific harmonies by the vocalists. What a treat.
