I saw the Big Short.
Really enjoyed the movie, a good watch. However, two things to be aware of:
1.) It starts slow. It’s like you jump into the middle of something. It’s several stories happening at the same time, so they don’t have a lot of ramping up for each
2.) It’s like taking an econ or finance class. They cover a LOT of confusing finance principles, and they come at you fast. I was getting lost on some of them.
Other than that, it’s almost breathtaking when they get into the heart of the real estate bubble. You keep thinking, “…this can’t be real…”, but I think it’s almost done in a documentary type of way. It’s not “based on real events”, it’s more like these ARE real events.
I loved it, loved the book, love Michael Lewis.
It was a bit more polemical than the book, IMO. Happened to line up with my biases, but still…
Bonus points for Richard Thaler cameo in which he references the (now discredited?) hot hand fallacy.
