NCAA to Announce Decision on UCONN Sanctions 3PM Today

#1

Hartford Courant reporting that there will be a 3PM conference call today in which the NCAA Infractions Committee will announce their decision on UCONN recruiting violations. UCONN imposed some sanctions on itself including reducing by one men’s scholarships for this year and firing an assistant coach.

If the NCAA is ever going to clean up the cesspool that is NCAA hoops recruiting (the AAU tie ins, the one year wonders, the money under the table, etc.), this is a good place to start.

Blame the DOBO

Seems a fair penalty.

3 game suspension for Calhoun
Give up a 'ship the next three years.
Some unspecified recruiting contact restrictions

Seems like a “joke” to me…

The NCAA has a new play “toy.” That’s is to suspend the coach for a # of games. Perfect way to give a penalty that is not a hurting penalty!! (Asst coaches can “game coach” as well as the HC)
MONEY is what drives UConn…I don’t see any money taken away!
Again…a joke.
But, what do you expect from an agency who makes a “maximum” game rule for the protection of the players…then creates silly "loopholes."
NECSAPAN is about money…UConn has been very very good to the NECSAPAN…and will continue to be!!
Greed conquers all.

Dead on, Tundra.

A penalty that’s not really a penalty. Like everything else the NCAA does, it’s meerly for show. Cam Newton, Bruce Pearl, it’s all a joke.

It’s the Emporer’s Clothing. Soon, someone will yell out, “It’s professional sports”, and everyone will realize that there is absolutely nothing “amatuer” about this stuff. The “student” part of the equation was erased a long time ago.

Ruler meets wrist.

Calhoun: “Ouch that stings”

NCAA: “That’s OK coach, you won’t feel a thing in three games”

And the sun keeps rising in the East…
