“Q. You also lost D.J. Newbill for a little while. So are you going to get into a situation where some of the assistants have to play in scrimmages?
COACH CHAMBERS: Actually, I heard you played really well last week. So I was thinking about can we get a reporter, an exception. I’ve got to talk to compliance about that.”

I’d be curious to know who asked this.

Yeah, at least Chambers has 1) the personality and 2) a hoop history that’s kind of interesting, having played for Herb Magee and coached alongside Jay Wright.

What is one going to ask Doc Sadler? So, what’s Bill Self up to these days? or how about…Going to miss your trips to Lubbock?

In all due respect, Sadler was a student assistant under Eddie Sutton at Arkansas.

The BTN’s Brenty Yarina picked Frazier as his Big Ten Breakout Player last week.

And again just the AP store…but the Washington Post picked it up

“I’m proud of how hard he is working,” said Chambers of the suspended Marshall. “We have team rules, there is a standard of excellence in our program and if you don’t abide by that standard you won’t be a part of our team."

Sounds like Marshall could make his way back. PSU really needs Marshall and Woodyard to get on the court soon in order to have a little depth. I think Marshall has a shot to be a decent player.

Mr. Jones coming in in with good and different perspective his article.

The disintegration of the Big East is really something to watch going on next couple of years, teams like Nova, Georgetown, & St. John will be still probably making NCAA tournaments but I can see opportunity to definitely recruit kids west to the Big Ten then in the past.

Chambers is sure a “dream come true.” When some poster would post “IT CAN BE DONE” and “MARKETING, MARKETING, MARKETING” who would have thunk the new HC coach would surpass expectations! By a MILE…

“We’re focused right now in the northeast corridor, so we’re going up against a lot of Big East teams. But we can’t be afraid of going up against those guys.

“And we’re going to get that one guy. It’s going to happen. We’ve had a lot of big-time kids on campus. It’s going to happen, and we just gotta get them there.”

Whoo! Where do I sign?

Seriously, Chambers has to be licking his chops right now at the prospect of a Big East on its heels and very possibly morphing back into the basketball-only conference it was in the 1980s during a time when being such an entity may not be an economically viable at the high-major level. Meanwhile, he can sell a league with huge visibility and major resources.

“And our message is, we’re a great program, great institution, a young coach that’s going to be there for you and who is going to drive you but is also going to put an arm around you, love you up a little too.

“That might be unique for this generation, the generation of now.”

The Big East…will become the The Big Least in due time. Things change. We sure hired PC at the perfect time!!

It was Dave Jones.

In hindsight, Dave Jones was the only beat reporter there, right?

I know FOS sent one of their recruiting folks to cover it, but she lives in the area.
