B1G and Pac 10 tourneys are pretty lame. The rest of the major conferences get some nice stuff.

Anybody else get a “chuckle” between the differences (see: money value) between conferences:

Examples: T-Shirt…Knit cap…Ipod…Draw string bag…multi media player

I knew that college football bowls are allowed to give $500 in gifts to participating players. Here’s that list:

But you have huge sponsor $$$ in those games…

Who foots the bill for 12 teams x 12 players plus coaches at some of these hoop tourneys?

It seems more than 12x12+coaches. That chart shows 330 packages distributed for the Big Ten…that’s 30 per team.

Scholarship players plus coaches is 18 or so. Do walk-ons get to go to the tourney? What about student trainers, etc.? Probably some extras for the AD, Asst. AD, SID, etc. too.

It’s like Wall Street. The big conferences with TV deals and the NCAA and its billion-dollar March Madness keep a small slice (that seems reasonable as a percentage) of the huge pie that they distribute, but that’s not chump change. Smaller conferences probably look at it as a necessary expense.
