I immediately knew we were in trouble. I only clicked through to see how far Bill Cosby would go. Now I have to ask you, who in their right mind would pick Phillip Roth over Bill Cosby? I have to call foul on that one.

Those who value literature more than comedy and Pudding Pops?

#4

And that’s why Ashley Judd made the Finals?

Cosby should be able to satisfy on all fronts (maybe almost all - Ashley does have him beat in one). He’s a well respected entertainer with a Doctorate in Education to boot.

Well duh

I didn’t particularly like our standard bearer either.

I’d have nominated Rosey Grier - and I bring his name up for two reasons.

One - I think he’s worthy of the nomination.
Two - to alert some of the younger generation who may not know who Rosey is. Last night I got a message from a former PSU player, who shall go nameless to protect the guilty, who told me he had never heard of Rosey until yesterday - that needs to be fixed.

The article said they stayed away from athletes as the alumnus, and I’m not sure Grier’s diverse post-football endeavors are that well known outside of a Bounty commercial.

Could go with Donald Bellisario.

I know it is only TV but he has a good resume.

Created: Magnum PI, Quantum Leap, Airwolf, JAG, and NCIS

Or we could throw out Gene Kelly

#9

Why not Ben and Jerry or Mike Scoscia?

Good point.

I vote for Richard James.

Good point.

Huh? Bounty commercial. I guess you’re not considering Rosey’s co-starring role with Ray Milland in, “The Thing With Two Heads?” Probably a top 10 of the worst movies ever made.

Bounty Paper Towel Commercial with Rosie Grier

Here’s another one…this guy does use Mike Scioscia for PSU

Embarrassing since Soioscia never really went to school here.

I can’t believe there’s a trailer for this.

C’mon, it’s a cult classic.

Although Gene Kelly briefly attended PSU, he had to drop out do to his family’s financial difficulties. He later graduated from Pitt which proudly claims him as an alum.

The biggest reason why we will beat Bill Cosby:

Carmen Finestra ’71 - Emmy Award-winning writer and producer of The Cosby Show, Home Improvement, Soul Man, Thunder Alley, and Where the Heart Is

Carmen Finestra wrote it into the script.

There is some cool info here.

I had no idea Rosie Grier played a role in subduing Sirhan Sirhan following RFK’s assassination.

And no wonder PSU is a Nike school:

Mark Parker ’77 - President and CEO of Nike, Inc.
