I attended a PSU-Georgetown game at Rec Hall in February 1975. JT was in his third year as head coach and was making slow but steady progress. Georgetown came in with a 7-8 record having lost 6 in a row.
JT changed the lineup to start making more use of his personally-recruited freshmen and sophmores. Starting at least three freshmen, Georgetown beat PSU, finished the regular season 16-9, won the ECAC South at West Virginia, and earned their first NCAA tournament bid since 1943.
That turned out to be a big win in an important season for the Georgetown Hoyas.
