Wow, didn’t expect that! Welcome to PSU, Akosa!

Another 2 or undersized 3 player. Gotta believe that one of Bowman/Marshall and the JUCO might not be slated to make it all 4 years…

#5

ESPN gives him an 82, and I don’t see any profile for the kid on rivals. Was anyone here familiar with him before the news that he committed?

#6

No, but since I live in Boston now and have some friends over in Ctown I’ll give you guys an “eyeballs” account of his game.

Awesome. Would love to hear your insights after you get a chance to watch him up close…

I sure hope not. I don’t know anything about Glover, but Marshall showed a lot of potential this season, and we could use a shooter like Bowman off the bench. And aside from Tre’s little incident earlier this year, they both seem like good kids to me. I’d sure like to see them graduate as Penn Staters…

But assuming all 3 do end up staying, I’m curious to see what Chambers does with that other scholarship. A little depth at the 3 or 4 would be nice.

Like this kid a lot

Since Bowman is not on our roster:

I wonder what’s up there.

There is going to be some attrition, the important thing is we put our best team on the court and in the classroom.

An interview with Akosa about his choice:

I haven’t heard anything about this guy, I hope he becomes a good addition to the team.

???

Gotta love this quote though:

"I would say Coach Chambers is probably one of the best recruiters ever," Maduegbunam said this afternoon by phone. "He just makes you feel really welcome, really wanted. I tried to evaluate coaches as to where they'll be down the road.

This was something I was wondering about myself the other day

Players that were recruited by coaches at their former schools are common first commits at their new school. Looks like hes from Ackerman’s neck of the woods – Winchendon, the school he will play for in the fall, played Worcester Academy twice in 09-10 and once last season.

Winchendon had Khem Birch (#1 2011 Center – Pittsburgh), Angel Nunez (ESPN 91 SF - Louisville) and Markus Kennedy (ESPN 92 Center - Villanova) on their roster two seasons ago. Hopefully Akosa turns out to be as good as these guys! ;D

Here is his NERR profile: http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/recruits/player/1471/Akosa-Maduegbunam.php

Well, I’m not going to read anything into that myself. Unless/until we hear something official, I’m going to assume he’s still on the roster. I just don’t see a reason to approach that any other way. I could be way off here, but I can’t believe they would remove him from their online roster before making any announcement about it first.

Just for the record, this was not the kid that I was referring to a week or so ago when I noted that we had an official visit from someone who was not in the UncleLar matrix. I still don’t know who the visitor was but it wasn’t this kid.

There are some very mature quotes in the ESPN blog and I"m surprised this will be his first season of AAU. Welcome aboard Akosa.
