after reading what somebody posted about Seton Hall’s last night events, I’m not surprised. Seems like there some real crap going on there outside of just basketball.

#3

Wow…calling noobd…get us the story!

Woke up to a text about this a little while ago. I was very surprised… as are many other SHU fans. We were all putting on our ■■■■ helmets and getting ready to weather the storm.

Not sure if this is a good decision yet. We had 3 recruits (1 signed) and a 4th that was very close to signing / at last nights game. All could be gone for next year depending on if the assistant coaches return (they are the good recruiters, not Gonzalez).

It was a good move by the university they needed to stop the immediate bleeding of negative off the court issues.

Pope’s cheapshot isn’t everything it was made out to be. There was a lot of pushing and shoving before the punches (not defending him) so it wasn’t completely random. He was crying in the locker room after the game and apologized to the team. A manly thing to do.

The funny thing is that Fred Hill is still coach at Rutgers. Compare the results, LOL

Intersting sub-articles to this piece.

I have heard rumors about Gonzalez before but had not read anything in print about his attitude, behavior, etc.

No offense noobd, but the article makes him sound like a real tool.

Perhaps this is what they will use as a “reason” for firing him?

When it was written (right before BE Tourny) it was an attempt to make Gonzo look bad. None of the quotes or examples were news to SH fans… it was a cut and paste article of past events.

If SHU won against ND the article would have disappeared forever. Its now looking pretty prophetic.

Liked the story of the “bus drivers.”

Read this as well.

Sounds like a bit of mess.

Perhaps expectations are greater at Seton Hall than at Rutgers?

Any quality big men that PSU could poach?

Another funny thing is that SHU was giving him an extension through 2015, but it was never signed… Saves the university a lot of money and they probably don’t fire him if it was signed.

3 PFs. Eugene McCrory, Jamir Hanner, third that is being rumored is Jonathan Graham.

The other player that is signed is a SF from Paterson Catholic… Fuquan Edwin (highest rated recruit in SHU’s class).

As for other players worth poaching, doubt the 3 kids that just transferred in would leave again (Pope (from Alquippa), Robinson, Lawrence). Theodore loves jersey, Hazell is a senior might go to Europe.

PSU is better off staying the clean route. At least it saves the university from being embarrassed off the court. SHU has been embarrassed both on and off.

from Zagsblog:

And the hits just keep on coming for Seton Hall. Here’s the press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office on Robert “Stix” Mitchell, who was booted from the team on Sunday, two days before the NIT.

On March 17, 2010 Acting Prosecutor Robert Laurino and South Police Chief James Chelel jointly announced the arrest of Robert Mitchell, 23, of Brooklyn, New York, a Seton University student and member of the basketball team.

Mitchell allegedly entered a residence located on Irvington Avenue in South Orange on Monday, March 15, 2010 forcing occupants to move from various rooms into a common area where they forced to turn over their cash and personal items at gunpoint. There were eight occupants in the residences at the time.

Various items including credit cards, cell phones, debit cards, driver’s licenses, digital cameras and approximately $300 in cash were taken.

Mitchell then fled the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle has been recovered.

Mitchell was arrested on Tuesday March 16 at 2010 at approximately 1:23 p.m. when he was spotted by South Orange officers in the vicinity of South Orange Avenue and Poe Avenue in Newark.

He was charged with kidnapping (first degree); robbery (first degree); burglary (third degree) and weapons offenses (second and third degree). A first degree offense carries 10 to 20 years; second degree 5 to 10 years; and third degree carries 3 to 5 years in prison.

Bail was set at $650,000 by the Honorable Amilkar Velez-Lopez, JMC. The arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 18, before the Honorable Velez-Lopez located at Veteran Court House, Newark, NJ, courtroom 502.

Yup. The bad news I had been hinting at was Mitchell getting accused of robbery, kidnapping, burglary. Its a shame. The kid clearly snapped. He was one of my favorite players, and didn’t have a bad history (I don’t think he did). Ugh.

Yes I’m certain they will have to get in line -so many decent big men want to come here to be a part of this special program Ed is putting together. It’s just a matter of who Ed decides he wants.

#18

OK noobd…now this board has to find you a new coach. Any ideas?

#19

Haha. Ummm I’m not big on that kinda stuff, but a lot of people have been talking about the following:
Dooley (Kansas assistant, South Orange native)
Bob Hurley (St Ants coach - he usually says NO to college offers, but he actually said hes interested this time… NJ HS legend)
Chris Collins
McCaffrey
Pecora - NO!
Tim Welsh - NO!
Mike Rice - Robert Morris coach
Chris Mooney - Richmond
Kevin Willard - Iona

Theres a few more. SHU fans also want to bring in Jerry Walker / Shaheen Halloway as assistants. If Bob Hurley were to get the job, maybe have his son as the assistant?

Dooley looks pretty nice for the job TBH. Bob Hurley would no doubt bring a huge pipeline of NJ talent that this school hasnt had since the 80s and early 90s.
