Big Ten Predictions

#1

Just want to throw this one out, seeing that the league is starting up this week.

  1. Purdue - slight edge
  2. MSU
  3. Wisconsin - Bo knows coaching. They have the 6th or 7th best team, but will finish here.
  4. Ohio State - they will miss Turner, but still have the horses
  5. Northwestern - don’t know why, but I like what I see from this team
  6. Illinois - have been shaky of late.
  7. Minnesota - they beat Butler, so they’re more than capable. Can they win on the Big Ten road?
  8. Penn State - Battle will keep them competitive…toughest league schedule.
  9. Michigan - sure they have Harris/Sims, but I don’t like the way this team plays.
  10. Indiana - will throw in some surprises.
  11. Iowa - would have issues playing in the MAC.

Purdue: Hard work, defense, grit. All the makings of a championship season
MSU- No Goran no B10 glory
Wisconsin- Bo knows Basketball
Ohio State- Assuming Evan Turner comes back on time. 6th if he isn’t there
Minnesota- This is where things start getting shaky for me…but the way they shoot the rock puts them up here.
Northwestern- I wasn’t sure where to put them…I think they’ll still drop a bunch of games, but vastly improved.
Penn State- This is me assuming that we shoot better than 40% for over half of our games.
Illinois- Not impressed. Losses to some mediocre schools, PSU has their number as of late.
Michigan- Not a very good basketball team.
Indiana- Not there yet.
Iowa- Very bad basketball team.

MSU
Wisconsin
Purdue
Ohio State
Minnesota
Illinois
Penn State
Michigan
NW
Indiana
Iowa

Blue and White goggles. Plus I have not seen NW and can’t believe my non-eyes.

#10
  1. Purdue
  2. MSU
  3. Wisconsin
  4. Ohio State
  5. Penn State
  6. Northwestern
  7. Illinois
  8. Minnesota
  9. Indiana
  10. Michigan
  11. Iowa

I went from the bottom up.
It looks like I’m feeling optimistic for the B10 season.
I guess I put PSU fifth 'cause I feel they’re going to win any tiebreakers against Northwestern and Illinois.

#11
  1. Purdue
  2. MSU
  3. Wisky
  4. OSU
  5. Minnesota
  6. Illinois
  7. PSU
  8. Michigan
  9. NW
  10. Indiana
  11. Iowa

Its tough to gauge NW, UM and Illinois so far. The mid-tier of teams (Minny, PSU, Illinois, UM and NW can finish very dynamically). The other two tiers seem stagnant.

Top tier:
Purdue
MSU
OSU
Wisky

Bottom tier:
Iowa
Indiana

#12
  1. MSU - can’t go against Izzo
  2. Purdue
  3. Wisconsin
  4. Minnesota - may be too high
  5. Illinois
  6. Ohio State
  7. Northwestern - and in the tourney
  8. Penn State
  9. Michigan - may be too low, but they don’t look good so far
  10. Indiana
  11. Iowa

My goal for the Big Ten season is for us to be wearing our white jerseys on Thursday of the Big Ten Tourney. My goal for 2010-2011 is for us to be resting on Thursday of the Big Ten Tourney. At this point, I think the 2010-2011 goal is more likely as I just don’t see 3 teams that we’ll finish ahead of this year. I really hope they prove me wrong.

#14

Well, Indiana and Iowa certainly make two. And I could see a third coming from Michigan, Illinois, or Nortwestern (and maybe even Minnesota - I’m not quite yet a believer). The upside of having Indiana and Iowa as the two teams that we miss is that it puts us in good stead to win tiebreakers against teams we might wind up tied with.

#15
  1. Spartans
  2. Boilermakers
  3. Badgers
  4. Buckeyes
  5. Golden Gophers
  6. Nittany Lions
  7. Wildcats
  8. Fighting Illini
  9. Wolverines
  10. Hoosiers
  11. Hawkeyes

#16

I’m late to the party, but here goes…

  1. Purdue
  2. Michigan State
  3. Illinois
  4. Wisconsin
  5. Minnesota
  6. Ohio State
  7. Michigan
    8 Northwestern
  8. Penn State
  9. Indiana
  10. Iowa

Final Standings

  1. Ohio State
    1a Purdue
    1b MSU
  2. Wisconsin
  3. Illinois
  4. Minnesota
  5. Northwestern
    7a. Michigan
  6. Iowa
    9a. Indiana
  7. Penn State

Since no one picked OSU to finish first or PSU to bring up the rear, no one was remotely close. Better luck next year.
