I have a lot of memories of Carl. Let's say #ATTITUDE and #RELENTLESS don't describe any of them.
And the Generals were a blast. When the Globetrotters played at Rec Hall the one year, we got to sit on the bench. Same sort of game stuff we did normally, water/towels. The head manager and head manager to be took the Globetrotters first. I was with the Generals. They were great. It wasn't like a real game. They wanted people to talk to, so we were sitting in the middle of the bench with them. It was like we were just hanging out at a bar. The one player even sent one of us into the stands. He was trying to hook up with a female fan. The second half I was with the Globetrotters. It wasn't like a game on that side either. It was a show. They kept to themselves. Really wish I had been on the Generals' side the whole game.
Had a couple former players pass up the opportunity to play for the Generals organization after graduation. One kid was offered a tour with the team in Asia for a couple months. If both sides liked it, he had the opportunity to continue the tour. If I remember, the $ was pretty good for a 22 year old, I think it was 3 or 4K, but the best part was the per diem would cover everything. Kid passed it up to get into coaching.......he lasted one year.
