I have spent some time with Frank a couple times and know someone who has spent time with him on a consistent basis. If there was a tab, Frank was sure to pick it up. New Orleans Final 4 a couple years ago, I am struggling down Borboun Street early Saturday afternoon.......done in by the crazy 3 for 1 beer deals. I see Frank and his wife in front of me in the crowd. I weave (and likely wobble at that point) to catch up to him, making the mistake to put my hand on his shoulder from behind. He turned and gave me the stare before I refreshed his memory of who the hell I was. Great person that gets a rep, sometimes deservedly so, for being a hard ass. The footage of him m'fing a kid a couple years ago really was embarrassing for him. Much like Huggins, his players LOVE him and as a former player once told me, "I'd run through a brick wall for Coach Martin". I asked Frank one time, kiddingly, about the "stare". Told me if I thought he was bad, I should have seen his grandmother's stink eye.
