Although I'm glad that maybe this earns the conference a bit of respect or prestige or something... I hate this monday morning quarterbacking that goes on with regards to the tournament.
Just because a team or a conference does well in the tournament doesn't mean that what was said about it prior to the tournament is now wrong.
Did Syracuse somehow "justify" their inclusion on the tournament last year because of how far they went? NO. Absolutely not. You are selected for the tournament based on your resume up to that point, the fact is that 1-game and you're out scenarios like this will often times have surprising results and "cinderella" runs just based on the format. That's why it's important to get the right teams in the thing in the first place, because ANY of them could make a run in these conditions.
it's one of my biggest pet peeves when people act like we should go back and judge the narrative about a team based on how they actually perform in the tournament. It's irrelevant.
